Installing distributor in vw 1600? i've been confused on how to install the dist. drive gear and then the dist. on my vw 1600. the book says that the smaller notched semi circular section should point towards the pully side of the engine when at tdc #1 (which i am).. My car is a 73 super with the stock 1600 engine. i am using a svda distributor on it. the correct way to install the drive shaft is when the slot in the shaft is parallel to the engine case and perpendicular to the split in the case with the small offset twards the pully. i guess that i am going to have to suck it up and buy the f#.
